Neuromuscular Disorders
Neuromuscular disorders include diseases affecting to peripheral nervous system, neuromuscular junction or skeletal muscle all of these are chemical components of the motor unit. Damage to any of these structures can cause muscle atrophy, weakness and problems in sensation can occur. Neuromuscular diseases can be acquired or genetic and other causes are muscle degeneration, autoimmunity, toxins, medications, malnutrition, metabolic derangements, hormone imbalances, infection, nerve compression or entrapment, comprised blood supply & trauma.
As disease advances it can show signs and symptoms like numbness, paraesthesia, muscle weakness, muscle atrophy, myalgia, muscle twitches. These disorders are treatable if treatment started at the early onset of disease. In advanced cases treatment helps to stop further disability and advancement of diseases.
